Coffee for Beauty

Coffee! My Coffee! The number of times that it has saved us from dozing off in an early morning meeting or a late night study session just proves that coffee loves us dearly and will always have our backs. Most of us can’t go a day without coffee and for good reason, as currently the only constant in life seems to be our dear pal, Mr. Coffee. What a lot of us don’t know, is that apart from its delicious aroma and soul-awakening taste, coffee also has the capability to specialize in reducing our bills at beauty parlours and stores. You ask how? Well, here goes.

  1. A Burst of Antioxidants: Coffee is known to be rich in antioxidants which are commonly associated with citrusy fruits such as oranges and pomegranates. The benefit that antioxidants provide is that it slows down the ageing of the skin. It fights pre-mature aging of the skin which takes place due to the sun’s heat and radiations, pollution and the prevailing lifestyles that we lead. Yes, we’ll all get old and saggy-skinned one day, but some of us will face this much later and slower than others because they took their coffee doses seriously.

  2. TBags! Be Gone!: You know those annoying mornings when you wake up feeling extremely fresh and ready to take on the world but then you look at yourself in the mirror and see that your undereyes are looking like those puffer fish you saw last night on discovery channel? Yes, undereye bags or puffy eyes are the most unwelcome sight to start your day with. But behold! Coffee’s here to the rescue. All you need to do is mix some coffee powder with coconut oil and apply under youreye. Massage it in after letting it sit for ten minutes and rinse it off. You are now ready to go back on take on the world again!

  3. Scrub Me Like You Do:Want that soft butter like skin that feels like velvet to touch? Make your own scrub with coffee and sugar and stand witness to the miracles it performs. Coffee grounds make an excellent ingredient for a body scrub and it is known to reduce cellulite. It is a condition where the skin has a lumpy and dimpled appearance. You can also count on a coffee scrub to exfoliate and get rid of all the dead skin that you have.

  4. Who’s the Brightest of ‘em All?:Want your face to launch a thousand ships? Well, we can’t all be Helen of Troy but we can at least try! Coffee, when applied as a face mask, can give you a gorgeous glow and a skin brighter than all the constellations put together. This is because of it’s stimulating properties which improve the blood flow and give an impression that your face is radiating from within. So put on that coffee mask and as the Pop Cult favourite, Rihanna, sang, ‘shine bright like a diamond!’

Hope you are inspired now to not just drink your coffee but also drown yourself in it for a number of beauty benefits!
